The faculty of UW-Whitewater have circulated an open letter regarding the ongoing chancellor search at their campus. The letter details numerous problems with the UW System President and Board of Regents’ handling of the search, their lack of responsiveness to faculty input, and their failure to uphold basic norms of shared governance. The search is the first in the UW System to take place since the 2015 and 2017 amendments to Regent Policy 6-4, which severely curtailed the faculty role in chancellor searches.
The AAUP Wisconsin Executive Committee fully supports the UW-Whitewater faculty and endorses the attached open letter.
